14-Day Rwanda Safari Itinerary
This 14-day journey is a show case of Rwanda’s remarkable diversity: the vibrant capital, the ancient rainforest of Nyungwe (home to chimpanzees and colobus monkeys), the calm shores and cool waters of Lake Kivu, the volcanic highlands of the Virunga range (mountain gorillas and golden monkeys), and the savanna landscapes of Akagera in the east (Big Five territory). The route travels roughly in a loop — south, then west along the lake, north to the volcanoes, and finally east to Akagera before returning to Kigali — minimizing backtracking while giving each region 2–3 days to properly explore.
Rwanda’s compact size makes this itinerary very doable by road, with scenic drives of few hours between regions. because the roads are paved and in good condition.
