It is among the short gorilla trekking safaris that take you through two different countries. This package is convenient for travelers who wish to trek mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda using Kigali International Airport, as it’s closer to this park than Entebbe International Airport. Bwindi is just 180n kilometers from Kigali and driving takes only 4 hours compared to driving for 8-9 hours from Entebbe.

 It is available throughout the year and convenient for travellers who do not want long road drives. Transfers from Kigali are always by standard 4×4 safari vehicles.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your driver guide will pick you up at Kigali International Airport. Following the greeting and simple briefing about the safari, you will board the safari vehicle for the drive to Uganda via Gatuna or Cyanika border points.  the drive takes approximately 4 hours.  As you travel, enjoy the picturesque backdrop of rolling hills covered in rich flora.  On arrival, go to your booked hotel where you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Note: Your accommodation should be close to the headquarters of your tracking sector because Bwindi National Park has four sectors, including Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

On this long-awaited day, wake up early for breakfast and then be driven to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking. It is expected that you arrive at the park headquarters by 7:00 a.m. for a briefing from the rangers. During the briefing, park rangers advise trekkers on what to do and what not to do while trekking to the gorillas. You will be assigned a gorilla family depending on the individual’s hiking capabilities. Each group is often trekked by eight people.

A lifetime experience awaits you in the thick tropical rainforest of Bwindi. The hike lasts for two to six hours. One hour is the maximum time visitors are allowed to spend with the mountain gorilla family as they watch and study their everyday lives, take photos, and later return to the starting point.

After the trek, at the park center, you will be awarded with gorilla trekking certificates. From here, drive to the hotel for a late lunch. Have a leisurely evening at the Hotel/Lodge.

Optional Activity:

 Visit the Batwa people in the nearby villages to enjoy the best of Ugandan culture and history.

Day 3:  Return to Kigali and departure.

After breakfast on the last day of your 3 days Uganda Rwanda gorilla trekking safari, make your way back to Kigali. After crossing the Uganda-Rwanda border, stop in Kigali for lunch before making your way to Kigali International Airport.
