9 Days Rwanda ( Gorillas) Uganda( Gorillas, chimpanzees  & Wildlife) Safari starts in Rwanda and ends in Uganda. The trip takes you to Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking, Bwindi National Park (gorilla trekking), Queen Elizabeth National Park (game viewing & boat cruise), and Kibale national Park for Chimpanzee tracking.

Itinerary in Detail for 9 Days Rwanda ( Gorillas) Uganda( Gorillas, chimpanzees  & Wildlife) Safari

Day 1: Arrive at Kigali International Airport

On arrival in Kigali,  drive to the Genocide Memorial center in Gisozi,  which is sits on sacred ground where a quarter of a million subjects lie buried.  Proceed to Ruhengeri,  as you traverse through the stunning terraced hill sides that defines most of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the bottom of the amazing volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. The meal plan for this day is lunch and dinner at your preferred accommodation.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Pak headquarters to join other trackers  and head up the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes after a briefing from the park wardens. Visit one out of ten habituated groups assigned to you. Tracking the gorillas is an absolutely interesting experience. You need to have a good level of fitness for the gorilla trek which may lust up to 6 hours, whereas it may take a full day to reach other gorilla families. Upon encounter, you will b e allowed to spend at most 1 hour in the presence of the gorillas, after then you return back to the park headquarters, then procced to the hotel for late lunch.

If time allows, you may opt for an afternoon iby’Iwachu experience, after which you will return to the lodge for din ner.

Day 3: Cross to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Southern sector)
Drive to the Rwanda-Uganda border and be transferred to either Rushaga or Nkuringo in the southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Arrive for dinner and an overnight at your preferred accommodation.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Southern Bwindi
Head to the to the gorilla tracking information office for a pre-gorilla tracking briefing by the park warden and rangers at 8am. The rangers will then guide you into the forest to track these Mountain gorillas. Spending time observing the gorillas as they interact interesting and unforgettable one, you are allowed an hour witnessing them intteract.

Depending on the group you will be trekking, you will later return to the lodge and after proceed for an afternoon community walk .

An overnight at the Lodge

Day 5: En-route to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, en-route through the Ishasha sector, famed for its tree climbing lions, and exercise our game searching and if you get lucky and you might spot these tree climbing lions. Proceed to the northern part of the park, arriving i9nto your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have an early morning warm up tea or coffee, and  head for a game drive along Kasenyi tracks in search of animals like: lions, cape buffalos, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, spotted hyenas, mangoose, kobs and, if you are lucky, the leopard is often spotted. The park is a home to about 606 bird species recorded in this park and most notably along the Kazinga channel. Return for a full breakfast, relax and prepare for yet another exciting activity in the afternoon.

After lunch, you will transfer to enjoy a unique two hours boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This launch cruise gives you a great opportunity for photography, animal and bird watching at close range.

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Transfer to Kibale forest national park  with an en-route visit to the palace of the youngest king in the world (Tooro kingdom palace) for a cultural and historical brief, lunch shall be served in Fort portal town before proceeding to visit the crater lakes and then head to your hotel for a night.

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking and Swamp walk

Have breakfast early, and then proceed to the Chimpanzee tracking information office at 8am for a briefing by the park warden and ranger guides, and after, set off  for the amazing search for chimpanzees. These primates are very mobile and viewing them is unpredictable but a forest walk is an ultimate activity and takes 30 to 6 hours. This forest is home to a large number of chimpanzees and other primates including Lhoestes, grey cheeked mangabeys, Red-colobus, Red-tailed, birds, and butterflies.

Return for lunch  at the at the lodge in time for lunch and if you have energy in the afternoon, go for a Bigodi swamp walk for yet more primates and bird watching with an optional opportunity to meet and interact with the local communities living here.

Day 9: Drive to Kampala

Have breakfast and later drive to Kampala /Entebbe to catch up with your flight.
