This 7 day Rwanda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari starts from Kigali to Akagera National park for wildlife viewing, through Nyungwe Forest national Park for chimpanzees and volcanoes National Park for gorillas and golden monkey tracking.

This safari also include a canopy and nature walk in Nyungwe Forest National park as well as Golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National park.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Akagera National Park

Day 2: Morning Game Drive in Akagera National Park

Detailed Itinerary for 7 Days Rwanda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park from Kigali

Upon arrival, drive to Akagera National Park and check-in at your accommodation, later proceed for an afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema at Akagera National Park

Day 2: Morning Game Drive in Akagera National Park

Drive to the Mutumba hill en-route to the northern section of the park, ideal for an exclusive game drive experience and spotting the wild animals because of its lush open Savannah grasslands. Some of the animals you expect to encounter at the park include; Masai giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, elephants, hippos and crocodiles

Day 3: Akagera National Park to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Head for a journey down towards the south with your tour guide with an enroute stopover at Nyanza palace for a tour at the palace which was a traditional home for Rwanda’s former kings.
There will also be a lunch stop over en-route to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Check in at the Lodge for your Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and Afternoon canopy walk

After breakfast at the lodge,  embark on your journey to the park headquarters for briefing at 8am. Nyungwe Forest is by far the largest montane rain forest in East and Central Africa and contains 13 primate species, 275 bird species and 38 reptile species.

Return to the lodge for lunch, after then proceed for a canopy walk in the Park.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, depart drive Northwards with an en-route lunch to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

Transfer to the Kinigi briefing area, after your morning breakfast. You will be briefed by park officials about the day’s activities and assigned a group with whom you are going to trek the gorillas. Gorilla tracking lasts anywhere between 2-8 hours depending on the location of the Gorillas on that particular day.

After tracking the Gorillas you will stay in close proximity with the Gorillas for an hour after which you will return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon you will visit the iby’iwachu cultural village for local musical performances by a local musical cultural group. return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight

Day 7: Golden Monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park and transfer back to Kigali
Early morning breakfast will be served at the lodge after which you will head for the Kinigi visitors center for Golden Monkey briefing. By the help of the park rangers,  you will proceed for Golden Monkeys.

Golden Monkey tracking takes between 1-2 hours after which you will return to your lodge to pack up your belongings and transfer to Kigali.
