Your adventure takes you from the vast plain savannas of Uganda to the misty rain forests of Rwanda. while on this trip, search for the big four, track chimpanzees in the amazing Kyambura gorge, enjoy a cool boat ride on the Kazinga channel. In Bwindi Impenetrable national park, hike to meet the rare mountain gorillas. this park is home to over half of the worlds remaining mountain gorilla species. In Rwanda’s Volcanoes national park, meet another group of rare primates, golden monkey. Visit the gorilla guardian’s village for knowledge about Rwandan culture, tradition and history. A brief Kigali city tour gives you an insight into key landmarks.
The trip starts in Uganda (Kampala/Entebbe) and ends in Rwanda (Kigali). This is a one-way rental trip where you will have to pay an extra fee to facilitate returning the vehicle to Uganda.

Day to Day Itinerary of 6 Days self drive, cross border, primates and wildlife road trip.
Day 1of 6
Start: Entebbe / Kampala (7- 8 hours)
Destination: Queen Elizabeth National Park
With an early pick up from Entebbe/ Kampala begin a scenic road trip through the Pearl of Africa. For 7- 8 hours drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park in southwestern Uganda with a stop over at Kayabwe town for the Equator monument and photography. Arrival time will be the late evening hours. Relax at the accommodation, dinner and overnight.
Day 2 of 6
Take pleasure in: Game drives and Boat cruise (Queen Elizabeth National Park)
Enjoy the parks eco systems with a scenic game drive with high chances of spotting the big 4 including, lions, elephants, buffalo and leopard other animal sightings can be antelopes, warthogs, hippos and several bird species. An afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga channel exposes you to aquatic wildlife, hippos, fish, crocodiles, water birds and other animals along the banks. An evening scenic crater lake drive exposes you to beautiful geological features.

Day 3 of 6
Take pleasure in: Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura gorge (Queen Elizabeth National Park)
Drive to: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (4 – 5 hours)
Walk through the 16 km gorge with the guidance of park rangers and guides. Spend 2-4 hours on trek, get exposed to chimpanzees, and other primates including baboons, and colobus monkeys. More to see are butterflies, birds and elephants. At mid day proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arrive at the accommodation for dinner and over night.
Day 4 of 6
Take pleasure in: Gorilla tracking (Rushaga or Ruhija sector in Bwindi)
Drive to: Volcanoes National Park Rwanda. (2 – 3 hours)
This day provides the highlight of your safari. Following a briefing at the park centre, ranger guides lead you into the dense jungles to meet a habituated gorilla family. It’s a strenuous excursion that rewards with one fruitful hour in presence of the gentle giant apes. After the trek, cross to Rwanda via Cyanika border to Musanze town, in Volcanoes national park.
Day 5 of 6
Take pleasure in: Golden Monkey tracking and Ibyiwachu Cultural centre
A new day in a new country and another primate park. Visit Kinigi park centre, get a briefing about golden monkey tracking and later follow the park guides to locate these playful primates that always dwell in the bamboo forested zones of the park. Observe their admirable behaviour for an hour. In the afternoon visit the Ibyiwacu cultural centre for the best of Rwandan history, culture, and traditions through music, dance, craft work folk tales and instructional exhibits/ presentations.

Day 6 of 6
Start: Musanze (Volcanoes national Park)
Destination: Kigali (2.5 hours)
Finalise your 6 days cross border self drive primate and wildlife road trip with a scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills from Musanze to Kigali. take on a brief Kigali city tour to Kigali genocide memorial centre to learn about what happened during the 100 dark days of 1994, Visit Kimironko market and some craft centres for soveniers if time is by your side.
