6 Days Chimpanzee, Gorillas & Golden Monkey safaris. The 6 Days Chimpanzee, Gorillas & Golden Monkey safari is ideal for travelers trekking gorillas, tracking Chimpanzees and Golden Monkeys. Both Nyungwe Forest National Park and Volcanoes National Park are habitats to a number of primates that are not limited to only the Chimpanzees and Gorillas.
Some of the primates you expect to encounter during the safari are; the Golden Monkey, Colobus Monkeys, L’Hoest Monkeys and the Owl faced Monkey.

Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Chimpanzee, Gorillas & Golden Monkey Tracking safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
From the Airport, or drive to your hotel of residence.
Check-in at your hotel and have lunch. Embark on a City tour of Kigali with en-route visits to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center and the Central Business District of the city.
Day 2: Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Have an early morning breakfast will at the lodge, after which you will drive down south to Nyungwe Forest national park, with an en-route lunch and a tour visit to the Nyanza palace that was a traditional home for Rwanda’s former Kings.
Arrive at the Lodge for your Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and Afternoon canopy walk
After an early breakfast at the Lodge, drive to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking & tracking briefing at 8am.
Set off for chimpanzee trekking by the help of a ranger. The trek may last between 30 minutes-6 hours depending on how far the chimps have moved, since they are mobile.
Return to the Lodge for Lunch after the chimpanzee expedition, and later embark on your afternoon Canopy walk at the park.
Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Take breakfast and leave for volcanoes National park from Nyungwe National Park as you drive northwards.
You will have a lunch stop over en-route to Volcanoes National Park

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park
Early morning breakfast, and set off for Kinigi briefing area where you will be briefed about the gorilla trekking rules and regulations as well as a signing a group.
Like chimpanzees, gorilla trekking may take between 30 minutes to 8 hours depending on the gorilla family location, including a must 1 hour of staying up close with the gorilla presence.
After successfully tracking the Gorillas you will return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, head for a cultural retreat by visiting the iby’iwachu cultural village for local musical performances by a local musical cultural troupe.

Day 6: Golden Monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park and transfer back to Kigali
set off for briefing at the Kinigi visitors center after an early morning breakfast. With the help of the park rangers you will head to the park open fields to search for the Golden Monkeys
Golden Monkey tracking takes anywhere between 1-2 hours after which you will return to your lodge for lunch and transfer back to Kigali.
